Christmas day, etc.....

Could I get ONE good picture of these goofballs?  I tried, believe me, I tried.  Missing two grandchildren.  It was a busy and fun day with these rascals.

I got the full moon on Christmas night.

Day after Christmas, the wind was blowing at 50 mph.  It was awful and scary.  Not to mention the dirt flying around.  Anyway I was looking outside and spotted this fella.  I'm thinking it's a woodpecker.  I'm gonna leave it up to you bird experts to tell me if I'm right.  He was sure inspecting the tree and didn't seem to notice the gale outside at all.

Looks like a female red bellied woodpecker. Good looking family there. Happy New Year

i think you've got a gilded flicker! i had to look up utah birds to find out the types of flickers you have there, and i think that's what this one is! we get the northern yellow-shafted here and occasionally a red-shafted, but this one's new to me!

and i loved (and laughed at) your family shot! :)

I was thinking some kind of flicker, too.

I like the family pic, too! It would not be normal if they all posed would it? Lorelei is into making faces now...it is hard to get a normal one at all.

You have such a beautiful family! I love the way they are posing, too! Too cute. I think the bird is some kind of flicker. It looks similar to our flicker, but the name escapes me at the moment. Happy New Year, Susan!
