Just another day in paradise....

Woke up this morning, feeling better than I've felt in a long time.  I even put makeup on for work.  But the day was to change.  I was sitting quietly marking invoices for my office when all of a sudden I started having pain in my chest, it spread fast, up into my neck and chin and into my jaw.  My chest tightened up and I was breathing in short gasps.  I tried to find my pulse, but there was none.  I checked my neck but I couldn't find it there either.  I quickly ran back to the back of the office building to find one of the guys I work with.  I ran in his office and said, "Jerry, check my pulse, can you feel one?"  He looked at me like I was crazy.  Don't look at me that way, check my pulse!  He couldn't feel one either.  He asked me if he needed to call 911. I said no.  So he went and got a supervisor who took one look at me and called 911.  Next thing I know I'm in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.  My heart rate had gone up to 190.  I was in paraoxysmal supraventricular tachycardia.  I'm sorry, but all I could think was son-of-a-bitch, what the hell?,   On the bright side I was told by the paramedic that I had the veins of a marathoner.  Whatever the heck that means.  They converted me which I guess means they gave me medicine that slowed down my heart beat.  It worked, but I still had to have blood work and a heart x-ray.  Evidently my blood work came back good and my heart has no disease, so the electrical short circuit could just be a one time thing.  Or it could be the beginning of more.  I'm going with one time thing.  They gave me medicine to slow down my heart and gave me advice on if another attack occurs what I can do to stop it.  So I'm home now, relaxing on the couch with Tiah and going to bed early.  Yeehaww!

That is a fairly common thing and usually pretty non threatening. Glad you are home and ok now and hope it is just a one shot thing. Limit your caffeine. What an unexpected thing to happen an dnot the way to start the new year.

Oh my stars! What a scare! Well let us believe it is a one time thing but it is good to know that the doctors gave you advise on what to do if it should happen again.

Take care Susan!
Hugs!

Scary! Hope this never happens again! Hope you figure out what is wrong and that it can be fixed easily. I know that too much caffeine makes my heart race and gives me chest pain so no more afternoon pick-me-up soda for me. Get feeling better!

Oh, Susan, what a shock that must have been!!! I sure hope it was a one time thing. However, at a certain age, things do kinda sneak up on us, don't they? Be well, dear friend.

This is crazy scary. I'm so glad you are doing better. I don't know what I would have done…..freak out of course! I'm so glad someone had the sense to call 911. Take care of yourself; rest and listen to that heart of yours.
