I'm pretty sure these are some kind of heron. The farmer was flooding the pasture, which is what my Grandfather used to do. It is so beautiful, so much farmland and pasture.
beautiful images susan, that stream and ramshackle fence are perfect together.
i don't think they are herons, i think tex is right, maybe ibis. i never see herons hanging out in groups like that. they usually wade in shallow water or hang out in trees!!
Wow! You got alot of birds there. Looking forward to your photos! Will be out of town in Colorado for 2 weeks, so will catch up with you when I get back! Hugs to you! Thanks also for all of your lovely comments.

hard to tell. ibis, maybe?
Oh, my, how lovely!!! And the ibis are gorgeous. Look like glossy ibis but could be white faced. Maybe a better birder than me will be along.

Your photos are wonderful and I love the green! I'm missing the lovely summer green around here this dreadfully hot and dry summer.
Beautiful pictures, Susan.
I love the old fashioned way of irrigating. It's the way that my grandpa, and dad did irrigating also.
Smiles :)
