Bugs....

Oh my gosh, BUGS!  I've lived alone for 15 years now.  So, I've had to get used to taking care of things myself.  Bugs are one of those THINGS.  Cockroaches are the one bug that will still give me the creeps, but I handle it.  I spray, I do whatever I need to do to keep the little creeps out of my house.  I'm not a fan of spiders either, but I will kill one or catch one and put it back outside where it belongs.  But now, and I mean now, I have been officially and totally creeped out.  Last night I went to my daughters to babysit while she went out with some friends for dinner.  When she came home she walked out to my car with me.  All of a sudden she ducked, and said what is that?  A hummingbird?  Well, it landed on my car.  AND it WASN'T a hummingbird.  It was a GIGANTIC bug.
When it didn't move I sidled into my car, made sure the windows were up, and started to drive home thinking the wind would blow it off my car.   Nope!  I finally went to the highway and had to drive 50 miles per hour to get it off.  I drove home and pulled into my garage.  Later on I had just laid down on my bed when I heard the cat playing with something on the floor.  Whatever it was it was making noise, protesting the cat playing with it.  I turned on the light and there was another one of those bugs.  I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  I grabbed a towel and threw it on the bug.  It took me a few minutes to gather it up, and I threw the towel and bug out the window and slammed it shut!  So I sleep ok, getting up in the morning, taking a shower, off to work.  So I get home today, and I take apart my bedroom and bathroom so I could vacuum and clean up everything.  I get the vacuum and proceed into the bathroom and there on the floor is, you guessed it, THE BUG!  I screamed.  Ok, I'm no sissy, but oh my gosh!  It's no less than 2 or 3 inches long, with feelers at least as long as it is.  Six legs.  It didn't move, but boy oh boy did I.  I ran out of there.  It took me awhile to get brave enough to go back in.  It still hadn't moved.  Ok it's dead, but now what do I do?  It actually took me two or three tries to get myself close enough to pick it up with the hose from the vacuum.  It hardly fit in the freakin hose!  I took the bin out and emptied it right away.  I still have the shivers, and I'm still freaked out.  I looked at my cat, and told her that if she EVER brought another bug like that in my house again, she was out for good!  All I got was this bored look like "whatever lady".  It was a Texas sized bug.  I have never seen anything like it here before.  I am officially TOTALLY FREAKED OUT!

what? no photo?! :)

was it a cicada? they're about the size of a hummingbird and they have wings and fly and make noises louder than crickets.

Wish you had taken a picture alive or dead. California has a large beetle called June Bugs, don't know the techinal name but they are a large to very large tan beetle that can fly. Haven't seen any in several years but they are real active right after sunset, and usually where there is one there are more.

Oh yuck! I wonder what kind of a bug it was? You should have taken a photo and held a contest to see who could tell you what kind of bug it was. LOL!

Wishing you a bug free weekend my friend!

I know I should not, but, Susan my dear, I am laughing hysterically here!! This was too funny!

Cats bring you things as presents, sharing with you the goodies they find. She probably thought you would be so happy with that big, huge, fat bug! You cannot tell me this is not funny!!

Back when our cats were allowed outside, we had our share of toads, frogs, moles, butterflies and BUGS! All brought inside and left under the dining table - alive!

Thank you for the good laugh. Love you, my friend!

Funny how cats can look at their freaked-out humans like they're saying "whatever, lady."

Hope that's the end of those BIG bugs for you.

I am not much of a bug fan either, and will never forget the time there was a huge tarantula in my living room. I threw the Dallas phone directory right on top of it. It was totally gross! So I can empathize with you!
