Sorrow and blessings....

Last week my cousins husband was riding his motorcycle, had a heart attack, and went off the road.  The doctor thinks he was dead before he hit the ground.  My dear cousin is heartbroken beyond words.  My heart has ached for her terribly.  Today, I was at work, I listen to the police scanner just because.  When I first started working for Parks I used to have to use the radio to get a hold of the parks workers when there was a problem or something.  Now I just use it to scan the channels and listen.  Today I heard a about an accident on Dixie Dr. of a car and a silver Expedition.  Serious accident.  Immediately a feeling went through me, I immediately called my daughter, and asked her where is your sister, is she with you?  She said no.  I then called my daughter, she didn't answer.  I called her son, Joey where is your mother?  Is she with you?  He said no.  I called my daughter again, and asked her if she had heard from Lottie?  She said no.  I said, I think she's been in an accident.
Then the wheels went in motion.  I tried calling my daughter again, but still no answer.  Then Meredith called me back to tell me it was Lottie in the accident.  She had gotten her sister to answer the phone.  I ran out of the office and hit the road.  I went down that highway so fast.  A terrible feeling in my stomach.  I called my son, and told him to get his butt to where the accident was, and that I would be there in a few minutes.  When I came on the accident, there were lights everywhere, fire trucks, police, ambulances.  One car was upside down.  I saw one cop that I know and ran to him yelling his name.  When I got to him he grabbed my arms, and I said, my daughter she's in this accident.  He pointed to an ambulance.  I ran there, and when I opened the doors, there she was sitting with her brother, crying.  When she saw me, she just cried out Mom!  Next thing I knew I had my arms around her.  My other daughter arrived, and we all worked through what happened, while my daughter just stood there shaking and in shock.  Physically she's ok, emotionally she's a wreck.  The other person went to the hospital, but is ok.  Oh my gosh!  My Mom asked me, "Of all the silver expeditions in this town, how did you know it was Lottie?"  I thought about that.  Somehow I just knew, and I knew I had to get to her.  I can't wait to get into a cool shower, and fall into bed.  Lottie is safely with her children at her sister's house.  Her husband will arrive soon from California which will be a great comfort to her.  Her greatest concern?  The welfare of the other driver.  Thank you God for another blessing in my life.

You have felt quite a lot of death around you in the past few days. It feels sad, no doubt, but good or bad, time is a healer. Or at least it makes us forget things.

You might want to get your daughter checked for post traumatic stress.

I would go through a 1000 wildfires rather then have one of my children go through what your Lottie did...

You are a brave, brave mom and I know she will get the best of care with a mom looking out for her the way you do :)

I am so sorry about your cousin! And your daughter...well my heart just about beat out of my chest until you said she was ok. I know this feeling of premonition you had. I had one too- before my brother died. It was a very strange, but strong sensation.

Oh Susan as aMOM I know how this felt the fear and anxiety and knowing something was wrong and following it through. My heart is racing and there are tears in my eyes thinking about a couple of those incidents I have also experienced with my girls. There is nothing more frightening for a parent. I am sorry about the other driver but grateful you daughter is OK.
