Doctor....

Had a good trip to the doctor.  Dr. Clark is a sweet, compassionate young man.  He could see the pain I was in.
X-rays showed that my bones are okay.  So he believes that I tore a meniscus.  So he ordered a MRI.  Meanwhile, very gently he froze my skin, injected anesthesia into my knee and drew out fluid and injected me with cortisone.  I have the huge hole in my knee to prove it.  Today I am almost pain free!  So now what am I gonna do?  Like the picture says, being crabby is part of my charm.
My headshrinker told me once, it's okay to feel good.  I tend to feel guilty if I feel good, and everything is going good.  So, I'm happy today!  But I can't help myself, I still have a little devil in me that just makes me wonder what shoe is gonna drop today.
Well that shoe dropped, the hospital wants $579.00 up front before they will  do the MRI.  That's with my insurance too!
I told them to cancel the appointment, I don't have it.  Let's see $12.00 in my checking and $45.00 in my savings, and 6 more gallons of gas to get me through the week to work and back. Nope it ain't gonna happen.  So......
I'm just gonna be happy I have that much in the bank, and I will get through this week, till payday on Friday, so I can pay my house payment, get gas, and maybe some food.  And I'm gonna enjoy the fact that my knee feels pretty good right now.

And I'm grateful that I have children who help me.  My son Aaron paid for my doctor trip.  Bless him, I know he has his own problems.

Cortisone sure is a good thing when it works. That's terrible about the up front cost of the MRI. I hope it heals itself.

Oh Susan I am glad you at least got a shot to make it feel better. It is sad that they want that much. Take care and do what you can it is a tough decision. HUG B

Wow, that's crazy high for after cost on the MRI!! Glad the shot helped, tho- that is great news.

Don't even get me started on healthcare in this nation....grrr...I have had one of those cortisone shots and my doctor didn't tell me I would not be able to move my knee for a day so that part sucked, but it did feel MUCH better after the first day. Seriously, something needs to change in our healthcare system. I don't want to sound political but really don't understand why countries like Japan and France have so much better healthcare and it costs so much less.

Cortisone has literally saved me! I've had it in both knees. I pray you get the same relief from it as I have had!

So happy to hear the cortisone helped so well! But, sorry about the costs, they are just out of sight. I hope the tear heals quickly. Take care!

It is ridiculous what doctor's and hospitals charge. Unless your rich, you can't afford good care. Glad the cortisone is helping though.

At least you got some relief from the cortisone! I sometimes forget how good we have it in Canada with our health care system. Of course, it did take me over 6 weeks to get into see the doctor. But it didn't cost anything. There's always a trade off isn't there?

Glad you have children who help you!

Big hugs!
