Heavy heart.....

Been a tough day.  First thing this morning I found out that a friend of mine, a guy I work with, lost his wife to lung cancer.  She has fought a good battle but just couldn't win.  I feel so bad for him.

AND then, we, as the Parks Division, have been hearing about a upcoming re-organization, and today some of it took place.  Two, very hard working guys who have held places in management were told that they would have to apply for new positions being created in the division or take a severance package and be gone.  Not only that, there are two of us secretaries.  Not anymore.  The secretary that just started working about 5 years ago, was laid off with a severance package.  I, because of my longevity, still have my job, but my job has been re-classified and my wages have been lowered.  Not only that, I will be doing the job for two people for less money.  At least I still have my job, and I'm greatly relieved by that, but things are so tight right now, and they are about to get tighter with lower pay.

I feel so bad for Tawnee, my cohort.  She is such a sweet, quirky person and fun to be around.  She doesn't deserve this.  Luckily she has a husband that has a good job, but I'm gonna miss her a lot.
I feel bad for all affected today, and there are more changes to come to other employees here.  My heart is so heavy today.

So sad for this in your live right now, but, on the other hand, very glad it was not you who lost your job!

Wow, very tough day for you. So sorry to hear about your friend who died and also the changes to your job. We have been through many job layoffs and changes and have another coming up at the end of May so believe me, I do understand how heart rending and stressful it is. You will be in my prayers.
