Inspiration, listening and obeying

If you've read this before, I apologize, but I feel the need to tell it.  It's been a long tiring day, and I had just laid down finally, when the thought came into my mind, did you lock the front door?  I am so tired, truthfully I didn't care.  The last thing on earth I wanted to do was get up and check.  Then my mind went to a similar situation.  About 10 years ago, I was sound asleep, when I woke up hearing a voice in my head, "Go lock the front door".  I remember thinking, no way, I'm getting out of bed to check the front door.  I was so sleepy.  Again I heard the voice, more urgent now, "Go lock the front door!"  I just laid there, I did not want to get up and check the door.  Then after a few minutes I dragged myself out of bed and went to the front door.  I hadn't locked it.  Just as I locked it, someone on the outside tried it.  I jerked my hand away from the door as if I had a electrical shock.  I just stood there, unable to move.  I heard the person try the door again then walk around to the side of the house.  I locked the deadbolt then went back to my bedroom.  I could hear him rummaging through my storage room and then walk around the house outside.  Back then, the house I lived in was on a dirt, gravel road.  I could hear him walking up the street, trying other doors. Ah, my window was open that is why I could hear all this.  I was to afraid to close it, for fear he would hear it.  After a while he must have left, because I didn't hear anymore noise.  It took me awhile to get back to sleep that night I tell ya.  But, at the same time I was grateful that I had listened and obeyed the voice in my head.  It's kinda funny, because at the time I was dating a Police Officer, and when I told him about it the next day, he said to me, "Did you call 911"?  Ah noooo, was my answer.  He said "well we really like it when you call us BEFORE something bad happens!"  I laughed, I was raised in California, and before my divorce, my husband was literally gone all the time, and so when there was a weird noise, I would investigate because I was the one who had to.  We were used to weird things happening, including ghosts in that old house we lived in.  We even got broke into a couple of times, and were constantly replacing locked up bikes that had been stolen.  It just didn't occur to me to call the police.  Anyhoo, did I get up tonight to check the front door?  Yessiree!  And yep it was locked, but it gave me a chance to write this.  So, if you get a funny feeling in your gut, if you hear a voice of warning in your head, I believe it's inspiration and we should all listen and OBEY!

Good night all, and have a great weekend.  I'm going hiking tomorrow with Tiah and my daughter Lottie.  Some one on one time with my eldest daughter and my dog.  Love you all!

Oh, my, Susan. I do believe in listening to our inner voice.

But so funny....I tell this all the time now. We went for at least 20 years of not locking the door unless we were on vacation...now the front screen door is locked all the time...and the back door a lot of the time...it is a different world to what it was just 10 years ago in our neighborhood. We never locked our vehicles whether sitting out here or in the parking lot of a store...now they are locked if they are out, and if they are in the garage, the garage is locked. A lot of the kids that were friends with my girls knew where I kept a little stash of money if it was needed for paper boy or just whatever...never thought about them stealing it. Plus always had piggy banks for change.

we always lock up and have alarms in the house also. we both check the doors before we "head up the stairs", i couldn't sleep without the alarm being set!!

Goodness Gracious, Susan! Your Guardian Angel had some work convincing you to go and lock that door, huh?

And where in the heck is your gun, woman? We have plenty of them around here, and as my dad told me once: "Don't pull it to someone, unless you mean business. Otherwise, they may take it from you and shove it up your nostrils." ...(He actually said some other place but I'll leave it to your imagination.)
Love. Be safe, my dear friend!
