Our area is primarily volcanic rock. There is a dead volcano about 40 miles north of where I live. The ancient lava flows are magnificent. Here are some pictures I took.
The way you can "spread" your eyes around reminds me of being by the sea, with all that open space in front one's eyes. I like the desert better, though. The sea does not attract me that much.
